ACT:

As a child of God, we are given the Spirit to help us to not live in fear or make us slaves. The Spirit leads us to cry out to our Heavenly Father and helps us to share in Christ’s suffering so that we may also share in His glory. 


Thank you, Lord for adopting me and making me your daughter. Help me to find comfort, security, hope, and your love in my identity as your daughter. In my suffering, help me to cry out to you. By your Spirit, help me to not live in fear or be a slave to the things of this world. Rather, help me to put to death my fleshly desires and aspirations. By your Spirit, help me to find a new hope and joy from my true identity and purpose - your kingdom and glory. In Jesus name, Amen.

The pit of loneliness

 Where do I begin, Lord, in giving my heart to you? As I reflect on these last few years of my life, I believe that you allowed me to experience seasons of companionship, joy, merriment, and the fullness of fellowship. Slowly, it feels as though each companion has been stripped away from me, leaving me with the loneliness I’ve always feared. What do I do with the ache? Lately, I have been dwelling in my feelings of isolation and lovelorn. I don’t think I should try to fill my time with people as that might serve as a distraction in your purpose for my season of loneliness. But what should I do Lord? I feel sad and desperate, longing for partnership with someone who won’t feel the same. Why haven’t these feelings left me yet? How many more times must I lay them down in surrender to your will? SHAME Day 1

REFLECT : I guess I feel scared to hope/defeated? More than anything, I’ve just been feeling isolated, lonely, and sad. But today’s passage actually gave me hope, Praise the Lord! I cannot fathom a place without any pain or sorrow, yet You tell us that there is. Because of You, we can experience an eternity of joy, intimacy, and belonging. I’m realizing that it’s what I’ve always wanted and longed for. My hope does not lie on someone that I’ve fixated on for years, my hope does not lie on finding a husband, my hope lies on the fact that there is an eternity of joy ahead, thank you Lord. Another encouraging fact — good will always prevail for us too. Even if it feels dark, irredeemable, insolvable, because of the prevailing goodness, Holy Spirit, within us — we can be redeemed.
